I did dump the steering wheel cover right after I got the car. I put about 150 miles on her this weekend on the highway and around town and the car preformed great.
As this geting to a #2 car for a few grand it will take more than a few grand. It needs a small amount of body work, new paint, a lot of work on the chrome or a new trim set and the wood refinished. Not to mention cleaning up the engine compartment and other detailing.
I have done some wood finishing might be able to handle that job if I ever get to taking off the dashboard. I have though about finding another set of wood for the dash and refinishing it and then swaping out the dashboards.
If I do some work on any of the worst of the chrome and it ends up looking good I could, with a lot of time, do that myself. If I end up owning the car over the next three or four winters I might get it the there.
