They want $12k because of the low miles. The problem is, you can absolutely not trust the odometers on these cars. You would have to check the wear on the upholstery, brake pedal pad, engine and chassis components to get an idea of its true mileage. Even at that, age itself takes a toll all by itself.
At any rate, at that price the car would have to be show-quality and a V-8. Good drivers in condition 3+ or 2 can be had all day for $3-5k. If the car has any rust or engine wear, you are looking at half that cost. The S is worth less than the SE--the V8 is worth the most, generally speaking.
In my few years following the prices of this model, I have not noticed any significant appreciation.
