Radio only picks up low frequencies

Hey.

I have this old Blaupunkt from 1973. Still works and does what it needs to, however it won't pick up radio stations on higher frequencies, only lower ones. This means we might have to use an FM Transmitter or something alike, so we can hear some music.
Is this a problem with how radio is transmitted today, the antenna or the radio? I really don't want to change the radio, as it's been in there for so many years.

Oh and worth noting that someone bend the antenna a bit, so that it's tipped towards the cabin. It's just as if someone tried to push it from the top and down when folding it, so nothing big, but worth noting.

I have an original blaupunkt in my 67 and it picks up stations up to at least fm 106. So the radio is certainly capable. You could try swapping in a temporary antenna to eliminate that as the issue.

I'll try and check how the radio is wired in. If there's nothing wrong there, I'll check the antenna. Is there a way to test it without having to buy a new one? Also I noticed that when I hold onto the antenna, I (obviously) amplify the range, which seems to make it pick up the stations it does take cleaner. Guess that's a leading signal, no pun intended.

There should be a 'Band' switch on the radio face somewhere. The AM band is 535 - 1605 KHz, while the FM band is 88 - 108 MHz. If you aren't having any luck, there may be one of 2 problems; It's an AM only radio, or, the switch or its' supporting circuitry is bad.

I'm honestly not sure. The car itself is from Switzerland and imported to Denmark, which means the Blaupunkt was bought in Switzerland (still have the papers for it, bought in '73). I'll check for the switch.
