The best part of this type on conversion is that you gain all the newer technology with the backing of Daimler benz's engineering expertise. With the coupe I'm doing, I'm using a m100 6.9 engine so the W126 floor pan makes more sense. I will have better suspension, better power steering, better air con, ABS brakes ,a stiffer platform , LSD , self levelling rear suspension. The collapsible energy absorbing sections of the front and rear ends are improved also.
Another bad thing about registraion here in Queensland says i am not supposed to install an engine that is older than the chassis ..I think i can get around that by either running the original 420's KEjet and cat con. Or LP gas .
LP gas works OK but unless it's set up with liquid injectors you lose power, something i do not want :-) .
The W124 used engines from 4 cyl. to the 300E 24 V and V8 in the 500E. brabus built the V12 version so there is plenty of scope to build something pretty special.
