In search of 3-point seatbelts
I've got a '73 280SE 4.5.
Years ago, I replaced my Kangol front seat belts with aftermarket 3-point retractable belts, and they've since admitted defeat and will not latch. I want to replace them with a Mercedes-type, 3-point retractable seat belt system. Anyone have a suggested/preferred source?
I live in rural Maryland and the local bone yards don't carry anything as exotic as a Mercedes.

Check this place out. I installed them in my '71 250C. Direct bolt-in with no modification needed. Quality seems very good. Much, much better belt than the original three point, two piece non retracting belts. Not an endorsement, just a suggestion.

I purchased the 3 pt retractable with contoured sleeve and used the existing attachment points. The contoured sleeve looks great but if I had to do over again I would order the 3 pt retractable with the 18" cable. The sleeve only comes with the 12" belt. 12" coming off of the tunnel is a little short and I basically have to insert the belt blind because it is behind my hip. The extra 6" on the cable would make connecting and disconnecting a little easier. I have adjusted to mine now and it doesn't bother me anymore. The cable would look fine. That's what I removed from the car.
I have attached some photos of my installation. I know that you have the sedan but they should give you some idea of what the installation looks like. The quality seems very high and they are made in the USA. I hope this helps and good luck.
years ago , i needed seat belts for 73 220 D , got 3 points with reel , made in japan from that famous mail order place in Chicago JC wittney . they are still good , where not pricey .
