Therein lies a great question. the pump, new, can run as high as $750. Used, it's much less. Are you sure it's bad? When you turn the key without cranking the starter, you should hear a momentary buzz - the fuel pump pressurizing the system. If not, you've got a bad relay or other electrical issue, or a siezed pump.
If you pull the pump off, hook the leads to a battery charger and see if it runs. Has the car sat for a long time?
Any pump will work as long as you can maintain the pressure (15 psi I think - do a search in the "online resources" portion of this forum. Lots of fuel related stuff is there), though I've never seen anyone here relate a story of them doing it.
