1973 280 running hot

I have a 1973 280 that seems to run hot. Yes there is coolant but its either not flowing or maybe the theromstat or????

I have flushed the rad a while back and did a pressure check and all was good.

Any simple checks i could do? I am not a mechanic

Check your belts first -if your water pump isn't being turned, you won't have coolant flow.

Things that'll make you run hot: air/fuel mixture set too lean. Thermostat not opening right. Radiator plugged and in need of a flush. Crappy water pump. No air flow over the radiator (poorly operating fan)

Thanks for your reply, I checked the thermostat about and month ago but will check again. I believe the pump is in working order but will have another look.
