I think I may have found my Xmas gift. Actually, I believe I saw that being sold on eBay.
You mean my Xmas gift from you.

interior handle attachment W187

I have attached an image showing how the collar threads onto the pot metal. The PO had used narrow pliers and ruined the finish. I used a very fine drift pin, after cleaning the hole with a drill bit and managed to get them off. It took a while for a couple as I remember.

Ah, okay. It'll be a couple of days before I head up to the shop to resume my work. I have to catch up on school (college finals, woo!) and work.

I must admit I've become a bit distracted by sorting out the 500SE and working towards a manual gearbox swap for it. However, I'll be headed into the shop sometime this weekend to remove the right front fender and bring it home, along with anything else I can manage.

Any recommendations for spraying the interior with paint to begin protecting it? Floor boards are in good shape, so a surface sanding should be enough.

It's definitely been a crawling process. Things took off, then slowed back down to a crawl when the rest of life decided to creep back in!

I'd like to at least get it on the road again, that's what's most important. Making it look nice can come after. I'll be doing lots of studying on how to prep and paint, as I'll be doing that myself as well.

As an aside, I'd consider an original drivetrain, if it can be had for a reasonable amount. All I'd need is a motor and the transmission. I've got everything else on-hand already.

Well I admire your drive.
Doing multiple restorations and mods while finishing school is crazy.
I had a tough enough time finishing college without having MB's to distract me.
Are there girls at your college? Haha

It certainly isn't easy, I can admit that!! I also work with three separate businesses, two of which are family owned, and one that is my own.
There are plenty of ladies at my school, but too materialistic and not really the kind of people I'd like to share my time with.
