Need help on a 1959 Ponton 220S

Hi everyone,

I am relatively new to Mercedes, I am restoring a 1959 Ponton 220S. It had been sitting since the late 70's. We had to rebuild the fuel pump and it started, but ran very rough. We cleaned out the gas tank, had the carb's rebuilt. Installed
new fuel filter, cap, rotor, plugs, wires and coil (All purchased through Miller's). The car starts and idles, but as soon as I push on the gas pedal it stalls. Seems to idle pretty well with the choke partially on. Any ideas where I can start looking?

Thanks,
Jim

Any old engine that runs with the choke half on, but stalls with the choke off has a carburettor problem. Maybe it was rebuilt, but there is still something wrong there. A half-blocked jet? I think that the assembly needs re-checking.

Thanks Keyhole. I had them professionally rebuilt, but it looks like I am still getting a LOT of sediment from the gas tank. I will have the carbs cleaned again and added another fuel filter. Hopefully that helps.
