w108 rear courtesy light problem

Hi everyone,Im working on a 72 280 se 4.5 and the center rear courtesy light only comes on with one of the rear doors or the dash mounted switch.I checked both rear door jam switches and they are ok.My question is does anyone have a schematic for this rear courtesy light .The schematics I have seen so far only show the wiring for a system that only has the dash mounted manual switch, but doesnt show the door jam switches .How do these rear door jam switches actuate the light,is there a relay involved?

thank you

Looks like that's the way they were designed. The rear doors turn on the rear light. Front doors turn on the front light. I just checked it on my 67.

On my '70 280S, both lights illuminate with the front driver door open. Check the driver door switch and be sure it is the 2 post variety and that both wires are hooked up.

Yep. That's how my '69 works too.

I've got a 1971 300SEL that's a one owner that I bought recently and that is how the rear cabin light works, only via the door pins or switch on the dash, I also checked this on my 1972 280SE 3.5 and my 1969 280S, but if you want it to work with all the door switches, it shouldn't be that difficult.
