Post Thermostat

It's getting cold here and want to know what is the highest thermostat I can run in my 1977 mercedes 300D w123? I live in northern Iowa and thinking of putting in a 195 degree thermostat. Any help would be great.

Thanks it's a new motor but the temp was only 176 degrees. Not warm enough in the deep freeze. Thanks again. PS better safe than sorry.

I guess I was thinking of a peice of cardboard. That looks more like a blanket. I like the way it can be adjusted with 1 flap or 2 for a full cover. I need to get the page translated better.

On my 250SE, it basically looks like a window shade at the bottom front of the radiator. There is a cable that comes out under the dash that when pulled, lifts the shade to restrict air from going through the radiator. Pretty simple design, except that the cable on mine is rusted. You could look for that setup on an older car if you wanted something a little more permanent.
