To change the seal, you'll need to remove the chrome and the seal. This is not for the amateur to do. I'd recommend going to a windshield replacement place so that they can pre order the seal. Another option you have is to buy the thing off eBay - I bought a complete set (all windows, doors and trunk) from eBay and have had no problems.

Another option you have is to seal the inside of the seal yourself, unless the seal is so brittle that it's all but worthless. To do this, buy some sealant from any hardware store, rated for bathroom use. Also buy some painter's tape.

Apply the tape to the inside of the windshield right next to the seal. Using a putty knife, pry the seal up and apply a continuous bead of sealant as you go. Once finished and any overage is wiped away, take up the tape and call it done. This doesn't fix the core issue of a brittle seal, but will cost a helluva lot less than a new seal and the labor to put it in.

Buy the windshield seal from MB. Then shop around for a glass shop that is willing to do this type of windshield. It takes a person who has been in the business for years because the way it all fits together is totally different than on "modern" cars. "safelight auto glass" isn't going to do it, nor should you try to get them to do it. Nor should you attempt this yourself. Find a glass shop that is comfortable with doing it.

The risk of busting the windshield is low, but they will not warranty that it won't get busted in the process. If it leaks, it is worth it. Take a look at your back windshield at the same time. Same issues.

i got my seal from Adsit. Do not try to do this on your own. this is not the seal on your dads corolla, so shouldnt be installed like one. And you must remove the windshield.
