new to the forum with my 1970 250

Hi everyone,
im new to the forum and a 1st time benz owner.
i picked up my 1970 250 ( well that's what i got told is was ) the other weekend. body looks in good shape, with minimal rust in the boot lid. I just have a few questions. How do i know what year the car is exactly? It says 250/8 on one of the compliance plates.
Also i need to few pics of a benz the same model to find out what the original interior center console should look like. i think the guy before me has put in an air con and now the center looks dodgy. I would like to keep it original and clean. finding these part are also a little harder then expected.
What center consoles fit this model. I wouldn't mind changing it to a different model center if it still looks factory.
Also there are the pull button switchs in the pictures near the foot well, i know one is the hazard lights but what is the other black one for?
The foot rest in the drivers side also looks like its a button too. clicks when pushed......whats is do?
My dash cluster lights dont work ether.... big problem to fix?? or what could it be? iv checked the fuse box.

Running the VIN in one of the russian decoders may be able to tell you the year.

Usually there's a month and year stamped on a plate on the driver's side B-pillar.

The pictures are too small to tell about the switches, but it could be a kickdown switch for 1st gear.

Dash light problem is probably the rheostat. It's easy to fix. I did mine and now the dash lights are working (although the car is currently in a million pieces as I restore it). This is the post I used:

Oh yeah, and the footrest switch is probably the windshield washer pump.
