81 mercedes 300D vacuum cut off switch
I have traced a vacuum leak to the cut off switch on the steering column vacuum connections. My daughters car would not cut off, brakes not working very well, door locks, etc. The green and yellow lines held pressure. The fuel shutoff valve on the engine worked with a vacuum hand pump. The brown lines going through the dash held pressure when I plugged one end and used the pump on the other. With the car running (key laying on the seat) I could cut the engine off with the hand pump connected to the line closest to the steering wheel.
I'm assuming the vacuum switch on the ignition steering lock assembly is bad. Can this be replaced or do I have to buy the entire assembly?
