1966 250SE alternator wireing

Can anyone help me with a diagram or a sketch of the alternator wiring with the external voltage regulator.

I am rebuilding a 1966 250SE and have found that one of the cables at the voltage regulator has a melted outer casing it looks like this cable was a brown colour. I think the other end of this connects to the alternator as there is a simular coloured cable which has signs of over heating whith the other alternator cables.

I need to know the route of this cable and what it does, the position of the cables connected to the alternator and the colours if possible (the main output cable is the only obvious one)

I am going to have to replace the damaged cable so its route and wether or not it connects to anything else would be useful.

Any help appreciated
