hi, thanks for the reply, i noticed you also have a w126 model. in an earlier post, someone mention that these aluminum parts are anodized, makes sense they have a coating which is annoying to work with, someone told to soak with drain cleaner first, then sand, then polish. last week i bought some rouge from harbor freight, didn't work. i guess its because i didn't use the aluminum brighter? the best results i've had, not great but ok was with flitz metal polish. does the brighter remove the anodize?

did you use a rouge wheel and a high speed grinder?speed is what you need, but be careful you can ruin paint and parts thin parts heat up fast .no good for paint or rubber so keep an eyw on that

go to your local truckstop, they will have everything you need to polish alum.alot of alum on big trucks, wheels ,fuel tanks, etc.flying J,pilot, petro, they will all have a supply,if you can find a 4"high speed gringer and use it instead of the drill, you'll never get it done with a drill motor not enough speed.
