MB Virgin needs help identifying model

Hello folks-

I have just inherited a 1976 MB Diesel.....and that's about all I know about it.

Admittedly, I have only seen this vehicle once (but it's beautiful!) and it is currently about 2 hours from me. I'm trying to get some detail as I may sell it, but the former title documents (one from NC and one from MI) say only the following:

Style: 4S
Fuel: D
Body Style: 4 Door
Fee category: 3210
VIN: 1151170122076

I've tried to use a VIN ID website, but since it's pre-1978, I've hit a wall.
Can anyone help me ID this car? I want to be able to describe it accurately and fairly.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the board Pacfan!
The first 3 of your vin give you the body style: W115.
Take a look at the post in this form called Mercedes Benz Original Photos, it has pictures of all of the models. I think the W115 would be around page 11.

Good Luck,

By the vin and year - likely a '76 240D sedan. Bullet proof!

Keep it - especially if it's beautiful!

I think there is a number missing in the VIN, it should have 14 figures. The 0 after the 115117 is not to be expected, normally a 1 is there, indicating a RHD vehicle.
