1966 250SEC

Hi all, I am new to the site and seeking info and advice. We have obtained a 1966 250Sec with a 280 motor. It sat in a field since the 1980's, the hood is dented and the driver's side passenger window is broken. There is cancer in the floor pan. All the stainless is in great condition. It's a complete car. We assume it's a parts car, but would like input on it's estimated value. We've been informed it's good find! :-)
Will post pics tonight.

I don't consider myself an expert on these coupe's. But i'd estimate a few thousand?

There is a similar one for sale, no rust, good overall running condition in quite nice shape for a driver for 15k

Would love to see what other, more knowledgable folk say

These cars are valuable, it's not a parts car. Floor pans are available and can be replaced. Please clean it up. Clean the fuel system, drain the old gas, lubricate the front and rear suspension, new tires, new battery too. Do not make any adjustments to the fuel injection system at all.

Not part of the in-crowd since 1952. It's BRAKES not breaks. You break a bone, use brakes to stop your car. /rant

You can find badges like these on the 'Bay' all day long. They sell for around 20 bucks or so.

Ok, I'll get straight to the point....we just need an approximate value so we don't get taken by sharks! We've had someone offers us $2k and another guy offer to trade for cars worth $5-6k. However, he also told that if we got it running, it could be worth $6-10k. He also said restored, it could be worth $80-100k. So, what's the truth, because we need someone to tell us straight! Thanks a million!

If kept, you're in for a lot of work and expense (assuming you do thw repairs yourself). You do not mention if the engine turns over or the condition of the interior. You can check the internet for restored values based on the condition of the car. Once restored you've got a $$$$$$ vehicle.

I purchased my 67 250S 22 years ago and have consistently worked on it over the years while in storage. Today it's a beautiful car but the book value remains low. Replacement value is outrageous. You will need a GREAT parts source if you keep it. Finding parts at a good price will be frustrating. I was able to hook-up with a MBZ source in Seattle who gave me great prices because they know my intent to bring the car back to shape. Unfortunately they went out of business and I moved to another state. I now have a great parts source in Manassas VA.
