Post 1972 220, Needs Engine & Oil Pan. Worth it?

I have found a beautifully restored 1972 220 4 door, but it needs an engine and oil pan. It has less than 100k miles on it and the owner says it's had nearly $20k worth of restoration done on it. I believe it the thing is breathtaking!

I wouldn't mind putting money into it since it's in great shape and he's basically giving it away, but I'm looking for advice and thoughts from the MB Community.

How much would it cost to put a new engine and oil pan in it? Would I have to put a MB engine in it? I know it may be blasphemous to suggest not, but I plan on just using this as a car at my vacation home and so I want it to be reliable and not necessarily a "collector's item" car.

What's the consensus on how much these cars are worth fully restored and the cost of engines, etc?
