1976 300D signal switch

Just bought a 1976 300D, currently heading west in it. The signal switch works but, you have to hold it down or up, it does not lock into position so your hands free like normal shifts. Will hit a spot to do some work on it today, might me a minor thing. Any suggestions?
Cheers

signal switch

mercedessource.com is a parts website, and they also have a tech help section.

they have a large section of troubleshooting and repair videos you can watch for free.
the early mercedes turn signal assembly repair is listed in the interior repair category.

hope it helps, good luck with it

The switch itself is easy to replace - 10 minute job really. But since it is a combination (turn signal, wipers, high beam) they are expensive.

You can file down the little latch that holds the switch in place and it will work much like new until it wears out again. You can only do this once or twice and then you have to replace it.

Good luck
