Question Brake Pad pins?

How does one know that the 2 pins that hold the brake pads in the calipers are correctly seated? I am speaking of the front calipers on a 67 260s with A.T.E 's.
Do they just slip in or are they driven in? Cant find this info in any of my manuals.

The pins should slip in most of the way by hand or with slight tapping. The last bit where the sleeves engage the caliper require seating them with a punch until they bottom out.

Thanks for the info I was able to quickly seat them into position. I thought that was the process but I thought I would ask before I took a hammer and punch to them.
