Post OM617 on W115 1975 crankshaft seal

Good morning,

My Mercedes is leaking oil in the front. Mechanic checked it and it appears that the seal on crankshaft isn't good anymore. Dealership told me that those seals were discontinued. I found a aftermarket one (advance auto parts) but they can't order one for me before I tell them what type of crankshaft is there (elring, rince and miyali(?) are their options. Dealership told me that OM617 had only one type of crankshaft and those three names didn't sound familiar at all to them. Did anyone had the same experience? Any advices ladies and gentlemen?

Thank you

Hello,

Crankshaft type? The names they gave you are the seal manufacturers; Elring and Victor Reinz. Not very expensive but I remember taking advantage of the seal change out to remove the rad and oil cooler to have them flushed and cleaned. Rusty at "**********.biz" is also a great help.
