w108 AUX Fan Switch

Is anyone familiar with the following part numbers. 1970, 280 SEL, 00 545 94 11 and 001 545 02 11. I'm trying to find out which one of the two part numbers corresponds to the switch that controls the on and off aux fan.. Basically, when you open the hood of your car the fan stops, when you close the hood the fan spins. attached are pictures of the switch which is located by the drivers side firewall.
Note the little white part at the center of the switch. Hood makes contact and activates and deactivates fan.

Got my answer today from the MB Irvine Classic Center. Correct part number is 001 545 02 11 and it only corresponds to the actual switch

???? Well I'll be! I've never heard of something like this ... Was this an add-on, or a normal option for the year?

The Classic Center Rep had also never heard of one but they have 12 in stock. The switch looks stock and looks like its been there since day one. Not sure if it was an option or if all cars that year came with one. I thought all the w108 had one. I am the second owner.

I have never seen one either. I think it's more of a child safety device. I would turn it into an engine compartment light switch. The fan cut off switch seems weird. That would not help the a/c or be helpful if your car was getting hot at a standstill.
