Water pump removal 250SE

Oh wise ones, any secrets for getting the water pump out?
I've got the fan off and bolts out of the pump, but it won't budge loose. Don't want to pry on it too hard as it's in an aluminum housing.

Thanks,
Klaus

Suggestion

Did you remove the radiator?
It would be a great time to take the radiator to a shop to have it cleaned and checked out for leaks?
This would enable you to have more room to remove the water pump.
There is a gasket between the water pump and the front housing.
I would suggest spraying the mounting flange with W D 40 and let it soak.
Grab the water pump and apply pressure.
If totally stuck, a little heat can budge it.
Patience, work it loose.

Knock the pump casting with a rubber mallet, it will come off.

Not part of the in-crowd since 1952. It's BRAKES not breaks. You break a bone, use brakes to stop your car. /rant
