W108 csv

Hi guys,
Working on my cold start valve, I have noticed that having the solenoid taken apart from the csv, there is gasoline coming out when the ignition is in ON position( engine not running) I have tried to expand the spring that pushes the pin(in order to increase the pushing force) but without much improvement: gasoline is still coming out the hole and presumably is causing the engine to run rich. I am in the process to purchase a csv from a 280se posted by JustPassinTru, but I don't like to admit being defeated on a simple defect. Is there something I can do in order to stop the gas flowing thru the CSV when the engine is running? A stronger spring would do a better job? Where can I get a new one from?
Thank you, Jean

I don't know if this is a clue or not, but on the one I pulled from the 280SE, I had to unbolt the solenoid from the base to get at one Allen bolt holding the base to the manifold; I notice with curiosity, that there is no gasket between the solenoid and the base. Should there be?

Also, since taking the pictures I sent you, I have cleaned off the solenoid enough to read its part number. It is Bosch 0 330 106 001. Only two of the base's three Allen bolts which attach it to the manifold had a washer, so my guess is, this is a service replacement.

There wasn't a gasket when I opened mine either, however when I managed to fix the electrical problem and have the solenoid finally activated, a lot of gasoline came out from between the valve and the solenoid base. Scouring a little for an O-ring, I have managed to find one that fit at the base of the solenoid and perfectly stopped the leakage. Now, I only have to deal with gasoline escaping from the valve into the manifold when the fuel pump is running. As I have mentioned probably, there is a spring inside the valve that seems to not push with enough force into the pin such way the gasoline cannot escape into the purging hole.
Thank you,
Jean

I have both the solenoid and the solenoid with assembly on ebay - check user srallen. there is a rubber o-ring that goes between the solenoid and the assembly and it is usually crappy and needs to be replaced.
