Right taillight lens and its chrome surround. I cleaned the surround just with running warm water and my thumb, the lens with running water and a toothbrush. The picture does not do them justice; I can't seem to get a good picture at night in room light. They look new, no cracking, crazing, bubbling or specks, all that was besmirching them was moss. They don't even make plastic nowadays like they used to:

To bed now, back in 10 hours or so.

Hi Phillip,
The parts you have posted pictures for so far look good indeed. Judging by the scratches on you hand, I bet it was an interesting day for you. I like the Blaupunkt, and if the price is right I'll take it. For all the parts we have spoken for,( thermal switch housing, cold start valve, taillight lenses and Blaupunkt ) please take some pictures and send me your asking prices + shipping to 44145.
Thank you,
Jean

You should see my right hand.

The radio probably is original; there's a service tag on the antenna wire, dated February 1973. If the radio works, I'll probably put it in my own '85 300D. This eff'ing recent Pioneer that's in it now, if I plug my phone charger into the cigarette lighter, the plug tends to bump three of the radio's pinhead-size buttons, changing stations or switching the settings on the equalizer or changing from CD to FM radio. I *like* a radio that has two knobs and five select buttons. As God intended. Gonna have to fit a CD or iPod player to it though, so I can hear my Doors and Joni Mitchell music.

Son-of-a-gun, the yard owner just called me; yesterday I had to quit at 4:30 because it started raining hard, and he told me he had to leave early so was going to crush them both at 5; but, he hasn't crushed the 280SE yet. So I'm going back over there and spend another few hours on it.

My 1985 Benz came with the original radio cassette player(Becker Grand Prix) that looks really good. Plays Red Red Wine by UB40 like nothing else.If you are interested on a swap.....let me know. I can throw in a BMW cassette player as well ( from a 1987 BMW ) Have fun in the yard, and good luck. Ah, I also need the pin that holds the rear bench on the floor. Without that part, the bench slides forward.
Thank you,
Jean

OK, they're both beer cans now. And I am one tuckered puppy.

With the exception of the two parts for Jean, and one rear bumper overrider I pulled to order...here's how I'm gonna do it:

As I clean and photograph each part (or set of parts), I will post it in this thread, and take auction bids by Private Message. Each auction will last one week from the time I posted the part. *Do not* include postage in your bid. Actual postage will be charged in addition to your winning bid. Payment will be by U.S. Postal Money Order, I don't do PayPal or plastic (edited April 21: on Monday April 23 I will attempt to set up PayPal). For each item, I'll post the current leading bid. *However*, in order to achieve an equitable distribution of this treasure (in my view), I reserve the right to award any part to a bidder other than the one who bid the most. Mainly, I'll give some added weight to bids by those who have up til now requested "dibs." By bidding, you agree that my decisions are final. All sales are final unless otherwise noted in the listing for the particular item.

I'll start posting items tomorrow afternoon, provided the sun comes out so I can get decent photographs.

Item 0001: Distributor cap. Bosch 1235 522 060. Copper top contacts look great. Wear on the inner contacts but only a little burning, button looks nearly new. Pulled from the 280S.

Item 0002: 160 MPH instrument cluster. Pulled from the dashboard of the 280S. I also found, in the trunk of the 280SE, a 140 MPH one. That'll be the next item.

Item 0003: 140 MPH instrument cluster. Found in the trunk of the 280SE. Large chrome beauty rings are only so-so and are loose. Clock beauty ring is only so-so. I haven't cleaned it. Faces look unscratched, but someone got some ArmorAll or the like overspray on them.
