1976 240D (fixed it til I broke it)

Just picked this car up last week, and noticed a steady drip, with coolant, and decided that I needed to change out the water pump. Holy cow, what a job! Had to move the AC assembly out of the way, and then I wrung off two bolts when I installed the new water pump. Spent six solid hours wrenching, still not finished.

So, in the process, I noticed how nasty the oil bath air filter assembly was. Should I keep this intact and clean it up, or is there a better air intake assembly out there?

Car is beautiful, will post pics shortly. As soon as I fix the vacuum door locks....

Breaking bolts of the water pump are not uncommon unfortunately.

Oil bath filter is cheaper that the paper filter. Clean it out (use diesel to clean) and fill with a layer of engine oil.

Don't forget to change the oil of the IP.
