My first mb a 280se

I posted in the new members area but figured I'd post here as well since this is where I'll spend all my time. I'm looked forward to learning from all the knowledgable people on here. A little about me I'm 30 a police detective on the beaches of north Carolina. I've restored several muscle cars and motorcycles but always been interested in the mb. I'm now the proud owner of a 1970 280se coupe 6 cylinder 5 speed. It was a one owner carbought it a week ago runs good the body has just a little rust and needs new paint. The interior is a being redone at the end of the month all new and body and paint shortly there after. Getting married at the end of the year and she loves cars as much as me and she wants it in our wedding. She drives a new mustang gt and we both own and ride ducatis. Can anyone give me info on these cars. I'm working on finding some books, but as far as the 5 speed goes can't seem to find much info other than they are rare not. Not sure that makes them more valuable but glad to have it honestly I prefer the look of the 4 speed manual floor shifter. Anyways look forward to getting to know you guys.

Congrats on your new MBZ
I suggest buying a MBZ manual for your car -year make model
I found most of mine on the Internet
Review these forums - loads of information
Locate parts vendors - search Internet
Research, repair, do it your self - will teach much about the car,
Join a club, go to car shows, just have fun

Welcome and congrats! You'll probably be arresting my nephew at some point, he's a bit of a handful in the coastal NC area. lol Seriously tho, great car, keep it forever and enjoy it, no matter the cost, will still come out cheaper than any modern new car and give you tons more joy and pleasure. I spend some time now and again searching various versions of these terms "w108 coupe", "w111 coupe" (there is carry over of a large degree between the two), "mercedes fintail" "finnie" "finback" "heckflosse" (use Google translator to find a whole other realm of info in German on these cars).
Post up some pics, we are whores for photos around here.

Thanks for the replys I'll put pics up tonight when I get off work. Can anyone tell me about the 5 speed? Rarity things like that are the worth anything. I'm not really concerned with what I put into the restoration the car means more to me than the money I'm just curious cause I can't find much info on them.
