This past weekend a gullwing reallized $869K at the Gooding auction and either Gooding or RM had a 300 SL roadster reallize $990K. Among other things, MB racing success in the early 50s was celebrated at teh Amelia Island Concours this year, making it the ideal venue for these sales. A Pagoda went for $48K, which is really not that out of the ballpark for those cars these days, and I think prices were pretty strong overall across the board with "real world" cars like an MG TC at $48K and a Healey 3000 at $99K, for example.
Personally, I prefer the 300SL roadster to the gullwing but they are both incredible cars.
