250/8 1970 from Colombia

Hello everybody, I just bought my first Mercedes is a 250/8 1970 I brought to my house the last week and I've been checking it completely, the verdict is spark plugs blacks, smoked too many gas from the carbs and the consumption confirm it, the right rear brake was glued making more acceleration needed to run but the maintenance was already made and the rear bars were replaced. Finally the gear box is getting stuck when I engage the first gear "wrong" according to the ex owner but I'm sure something is wrong. Any idea about that?

Ok, some updates I got it to a repair shop exclusively for Mercedes but it didn´t give me confidence but I found another specialized in all kinds of engines the mechanic said the car needs a good synchronization since the spark plugs are very very black tomorrow it must be ready and I'll have to check the gear box issue

hey, I am new here as well! Why don't you post a picture of the car - I am not familiar with all the different model types - 250/8 ? - but are willing to learn.

Anyhow, sounds like you are ready to get the car rolling again- great! Good luck and keep us all posted on your progress!

I'm writing this for the second time! ok here I go again

Firstable thanks for the answer I thought nobody was to write ever hehe, I'm very happy now the car was aproved in the "technomechanical" anual revision I only had to made a little adjustment in the carbs to lower the Co and Hc emision but everything else is alright , now he is in the repair shop checking what's the problem with the gear box hopefully nothing too complicated.

About the model I'm not an expert but as I read the 250 stands for the engine though in the papers say it is a 2300cc and the /8 is for the year the line begin to be produced (1968).

Your car is that in your avatar? do you have a topic it seems really nice

Ok I have this 2 photos sorry for the quality they were taken with the cellphone and haven't had time to take some decent
