'73 450SEL with 99k - value?

Hey everyone, I am looking at a 73 450SEL later on today that only has 99k on it. Seller says the AC works, and judging from the pictures it appears to be in pretty good condition. Undercarriage shows no rust, nor is there any underneath the carpet. Paint looks good too. Few cracks in the dash and driver's seat. Silver on blue with the column shifter. Did I mention less than 100,000 miles?

I would like to know the approximate value. I believe that I would be getting a pretty good deal paying his asking price, but would like second opinions from you all. I saw this car on eBay earlier this week and was only a few dollars under the reserve, but later contacted the seller about paying the reserve price. Here is a pic:

Thanks a lot.

Keep in mind that what I'm about to say is my opinion only. For a very early D-Jet car like that I wouldn't pay more than $2,500. It's under 100k, but not by much, in another 2000 miles it won't be worth much of anything. To me, if one wants to buy an early W116, I would recommend an SWB 450SE with not much more than 50K on it. Otherwise, it's just another big old car with a somewhat temperamental injection system.

Your mileage may vary.

I like it. Column shift? Haven't seen that in a 116 before. I think it is worth $2000 or more. If you like it and if it drives well. Oh, if you are going to drive a tank around I would definitely go for the LWB, but I'm 6' 4" tall..
