Post Right sided mirror

Hello,
I am searching for the proper location for adding passenger side side mirror to my 1972 280se 4.5. I have looked for any reference of attachment points and have not been successful. Would I drill the new holes in the same place as the driver's side?

Thanks in advance for any insight on this issue.

Right Side Mirror

I plan to add the same to my '70 280S. I am going to place it exactly like the driver side as I too have seen no reference to the contrary.

Sit in the driver's seat and have someone hold the mirror where you intend to install it. Does the vent window obscure the mirror? I'm not sure on a 108.

... this is an excellent tip!

Also, do not necessarily follow the body lines with the base of the mirror - as this could result in a placement where the mirror does not adjust to function (as on my passenger mirror ). Make sure you can see in it before you bolt it on!

On a sl it is 1.5" forward of the driver side mirror. But the advice to size with help sounds best.

I had the same question for my '73 220D. Some vehicles had the right side mirror on the fender well in front to the door while others have it on the door approximately in the same location as the left.

I did a quick google search for images and found most of them don't have a right side mirror but I did find his one which has it on the door about the same location as the left side mirror.

WARNING - this is a sad and sorry sight, it is not for the faint of heart. Scroll through the images to see the left and right mirrors.

I just felt too bad about that last photo - we cannot let that stand as an example 280se.

This page has dozens of them each one 1,000 times nicer (that doesn't take much) and several of them do have right side mirrors. One has an additional mirror on the fender but I don't think this was stock. This page will ease the pain the last image caused.

Good Luck,
