Thinking of buying a 1971 350 SL

I drive a simple MG and have been looking at a 71 350 SL. It's described as a VIN 107 chassis, full European specs, 3.5 liter V-8, 4 speed manual transmission. Given the simplicity of my MG (76 Midget), what might I be getting myself into with this car? Mileage is unknown. It's had recent brakes, exhaust, throttle and shift linkage bushings, fuel pump, battery, and tires. The car looks solid...I have not driven it yet. What should I be looking for? I've heard the fuel injection can be tricky and that diagnostics are difficult because the computer technology has moved on. I've also heard that wiring is critical with the fuel injection. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

The injection system is not all that complicated and is well-documented. You are correct that the wiring that connects the various sensors to the brain needs to be in good condition. In addtion, there are two components, the Manifold Air Pressure sensor and the trigger points that can be expensive to replace. Be sure to check the car from cold start through warm-up because that is where problems will be most obvious.
