Post 76 w115 300d alternator replacement w/o removing radiator??

I have seen a link on this site to instructions for removing/replacing the alternator on a 76 w115 300d without removing the radiator, but the link is dead. Is there anyone who can provide information on how to do this?

I really don't want to have to get into the whole cooling system debacle if I can avoid it. Any help is definitely appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Loosen the locking bolt, unscrew the lock nut on the threaded adjusting rod and relieve the tension on the belt. remove the locking bolt. Undo the lower attaching bolt(s) and drop the alternator.

Don't forget the electrical connections on the back of the alternator.

Not part of the in-crowd since 1952. It's BRAKES not breaks. You break a bone, use brakes to stop your car. /rant

Are you sure you need to remove / replace it? You can change the brushes on this one in place. It's a single piece on the back that is the Voltage Regulator and brushes and they're cheap - definitely worth a try to replace that first.
