Know a good source for brake booster rebuild?

Does anyone know a good source for getting a A0004305530 brake booster rebuilt? The remanufactured parts (aka Cardone 53-5937) are sold out everywhere, and I'm concerned about removing the broken one from my '66 250s and sending it away to some company I'm not familiar with, given that doing so will take me off the road.

I've learned through this long search for a booster that most online car parts stores have terrible stock management and piss poor communication. I think I'm up to 6 cancelled and refunded orders from companies listing the part as "available" online and/or telling me over the phone that they have it in stock. So I just don't have confidence that I won't wind up sending my booster away and having the supposed 3-5 business days of remanufacture time turn into weeks, or - worst case scenario - having them decide the part is "unreparable" and scrapping it, leaving me stuck with no place to attach the master cylinder to even get back on the road without power brakes.

I've been running fine without power brakes for a while now, but I'm tired of it and want to get the car to the point where I'd feel safe knowing my wife could make it stop in time... without the brake booster I just don't think that's a good assumption, given how hard you have to stomp that pedal.

Anyway, has anyone sent their booster out for remanufacturing/repair and had good or bad experience that they can share?

Not part of the in-crowd since 1952. It's BRAKES not breaks. You break a bone, use brakes to stop your car. /rant

Thanks. Have you sent any parts there yourself, or just read about them in forums and such?

There isn't much involved in rebuilding a brake booster, so a company that can do Ferrari ones shouldn't have any difficulties.

Maybe the best Mercedes guy in the country is Will Samples of S&S Imports in Dallas. I highly recommend him. Not only is he the best IMO, but he is also a great guy - not cheap though.
