Squeaky engine (Video)

This is my wife's 1976 240D.

The noise has been getting steadily louder and now pretty much drowns out the sound of the engine.

Is there typically a pulley (or pulleys) that need replacing and if so how difficult is it to do.

Also, whilst I am in replacing parts is there other work that is recommended at the same time?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Spray silicone on the pulleys one at a time, when the noise stops you have found the right one.

I sprayed the silicone from all angles and the noise went away BUT only for a few minutes.

So what now?

I guess I need to start replacing pulleys. How difficult will this be?

Thanks

I should have been more clear. spray on the bearing in the middle of one pulley, then start your engine. if the noise goes away that bearing is the bad one. if not, turn off your motor and continue to the next. Use just a small amount. You might also notice play or wobble in the pulley if the bearing is going out. Make sure your belts are tight and strait too. You may just need new or adjusted belts.
