Help required for a 1930 Mercedes Benz Stuttgart 260SS
I am writing to you from India with a lot of hope. Our family owns a 1930 Mercedes Benz Stuttgart Special which my Grand father had bought back in 1968 from a scrap market. It has been in our family since then. The car was repaired and used to be used quite regularly. At a point of time my grandfather wrote to Mercedes Benz in Germany telling them about this car and wanting more details on the same. They wrote a letter back to him saying that this was a 1930 Mercedes Benz Stuttgart 260 Special version and is one of two cars made in the world. They said that one car was in India with him and the other car was owned by another gentleman (who"s name i am forgetting), is based in Argentina and owns the pair to this car.
But then the tires on the car started giving away and we had to stop using the car as tires were not available here in India and it was way too expensive for us to import tires for the car. The car just stood on tripod stands from 1994 after it attended its last concourse. a year before that this car was being driven by my uncle who had a small accident on the way and crashed the fender. There were these lovely Bosch parking/side lights out of which one broke on the car. So the car was repaired and the other one was given to someone who claimed who could replicated one more or a pair from one but unfortunately he was not able and also damaged the one that was in good condition.
Finally in 2009 i discovered coker tires with the help of a friend and i ordered 6 tires for the car. The car in the mean time needed full restoration as it had been just parked away for 15 years. We have finally started restoring her.
I have been looking quite hard but haven;t found any results till now with the side/parking lamps. I am attaching a few photographs of the car with the lights that i am talking about. They can been seen in the older photographs of the car when it was green and white and also in one of the vintage car events. I would be extremely greatfull if someone could help me source a pair of these light in a condition in which they can be used or they could be repaired and then used. For the time being we are using some locally made lights so that the car looks complete but i would like to replace these as soon as possible.
Also hope to get inputs from everyone about the car.
