Unhappy problems in unlocking hardtop 560 sl

I just purchased a 1987 560 sl; I’m having troubles in removing the hardtop; The front & side catches are released; I can lift the top about an inch but it seems to be caught on the rear tang and won’t release. I can not turn the safety lever as far as instructions show. Any suggestions? Thanks

remove rear seat and rear seat back to access the latch for the center pin. Use a screwdriver to open the latch. Clean and lube all parts before reassembly and make sure that the center pin latch operates freely before reinstalling the top

You may want to go over to the 107 forum, it's very active, and there are a lot of people that have had the same sort of rpoblem. They'll be able to ask the right questions and give you the right procedures to get the top working again. There are a couple of things that can get out of adjustment that they'll be able to point you at.

Good Luck
