Looking at w108 w/ blown diff - help!
Hi, I'm new to the forum.
My question is this, I am looking at a 1966 250s w/ virtually no rust, 4 speed manual, but needs the generic tune-up - and as posted in the title - has a blown 3.92 diff.
The options that I found are not from the w108 chassis, locally. There is a w115 1975 230 4 that needs carb work for 400 bucks. The question is will the differential/ rear-end be able to be swapped (as in bolt-in). I would not mind just swapping the entire rear end if necessary (trailing arms, diff, axles, brakes etc.). Is this possible? noticed both use the w115 uses a 3.62, but am hoping it'll still fit (w/ necessary speedo mods). If not, what other diffs should I be on the hunt for, as I know that the w108 marked the end of the pivot axle.
I am a diy'er, and use to work at my uncle's mercedes shop where I rebuilt engines (850,000km on a 6 year old delivery van, needed new bearings and a water pump, that's it), and did other regular jobs around the shop.
I am located in B.C. Canada, thus 60's convertibles are out of the question as an alternative!
