Replacing 3 point non-retracting seat belts with retractable belts
My 1966 250s has 3 point non-retracting seat belts, so I have the anchor for the shoulder belts (two of them on each side, actually: one higher than the other), but it seems that there is only one anchor in each sill and every installation guide I can find for retracting belts shows two anchor points there, with one holding the reel and the other holding the other end of the belt. The seat belts I'm trying to install are after-market, but as near as I can tell, I would have the same issue trying to put MB belts in there.
Does anyone have any experience with this problem? Do I have to drill a second hole in the sill and mount an anchor plate to accommodate this installation, or is there a way to safely attach both the reel and the belt's end to the one anchor?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
