220S (W180) rear fender compatability?

Hi All,

I have a 1957 220S which is in need of a replacement right rear fender. I have access to a nice right rear fender from a 1958 220S (also a W180, of course), but am concerned about any small details (especially where the chrome trim meets the rear passenger door) being off between the two model years.

Are there any compatibility issues between the '57 and '58 fenders? Are they truly identical?

(Background: the reason I ask is because I once encountered some small variations in a replacement fender for a W110 fintail. I would like this fit on my 220S to be as perfect as can be.)

Second, related question: to whom or what book would I turn to answer this question myself?

Many thanks in advance!

Kyle
