Vibration driving - 280 SEL 4,5 1972

I am struggling with some random vibration on my MB. It occurs sometimes on relative flat roads with or without foot on gas pedal. Sometimes driving at about 50 mpa, it is almost nothing vibration, but another times the car vibrates a lot, feels like the car chassis jumping up and down. It sounds like a "knock sound". "The knocks" happens less rapid while slowing the speed again. When the vibration first have started, it often lasts untill the car is stopped, not turning of engine. Then i start driving forward again, the vibration is almost gone.

Any ideas? Guess if the tires was unbalanced or wheel bearing was bad, the vibration would not be random. Guess I have to check if something is loose.

Check driveshaft support bushing and flex disc. These are wear items and should be replaced from time to time.

Check all the mounts as well, engine and transmission, subframe mounts, rear axle mount, in the trunk under the cap. Our cars are old and rubber deteriorates.

Not part of the in-crowd since 1952. It's BRAKES not breaks. You break a bone, use brakes to stop your car. /rant
