Thanks for the answer on the ignition box, that takes away a troublesome worry,
as for the static timingcheck I have not done that but probably will now.
I also had lots of holes in the pollution control system, all the lines from the smog pump were leaking.
I took off the section that injects air into the exhaust ducts, bypassed the valve and left the part that pushes air into the cat.
It starts a lot rougher when cold now but runs stronger and smoother when it warms up
Should be getting spark plugs this week and new head gasket set this weekend, we'll see how it goes.
