'71 250c New Owner - Where to get parts?

Howdy All - I just got a '71 W114 automatic that I'm planning to restore. The first order of business is a carburetor rebuild, as the engine runs fine at all speeds except idle. Can anyone recommend a good place to get carburetor kits? Online is probably a given, but I'm in Fort Worth, Texas, in case there are any local sources. Thanks. -Glenn.

Try local parts stores - you'd be surprised what's still available through Napa, O'Reilly's, Kraegan and more.

Do a general search on this forum too - lots of old posts on parts

Try this place:

Mike's Carburetor Parts

I couldn't believe it was this easy to find a rebuild kit for my old Solex's.

I purchased my 2 sets at the local M.B.dealer for under $40.00 each. Part #000 586 01 07.
do not forget to remove the center screw in the hole for the air cleaner housing. the most important jet is the tiny brass idling jet. you can see it in the middle section once the top section is off. It should have airflow through it.Good luck..

Work Begins . . .

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Got kits and started work today. Just about got one carb cleaned up and ready to reassemble. Previous owner left a couple extra carbs in the trunk, so I got some spare parts. Funny thing, the two carbs on the car had different sized primary mouths, although the throats are the same. I'm gonna use one of the carbs from the trunk so both will be the same. No idea which is correct for the car, but choice was made by a cracked cover on one of the large-mouth carbs.

I really need a right inner fender and possibly the frame member it's attached to. Might need the front crossmember, too. Just mentioning in case anyone knows of such. Need to take a closer look at the crash damage, but right now just want to get the car mobile enough to drive it around back to the restoration shed. -G.
