69 280se cabriolet transmisson

Yesterday while drving my car, the automatic transmission started to slip, similar as if this was as standard with the clutch half depressed. Am I looking at a rebuild or is this an easy fix. ( I:c suspect not, ) Love to hear your thoughts and if this is a rebuild what will be the approximate cost in your humble opinion.

Is it still slipping? How hot was it at the time? When did you last change the oil and filter?

Not part of the in-crowd since 1952. It's BRAKES not breaks. You break a bone, use brakes to stop your car. /rant

Well if its not the modulator orsolinoid I will be buying a rebuilt transmission. Any have experience with sun Valley mercedes dismantlers? apparently they sell refurbished transmissions with a 2yr warranty. Love to hear from anyone regarding a good source for a rebuilt transmission.

I spent about $2k at Aamco for my rebuild. I'm sure a dismantler would be much less expensive though.

73 280SE 4.5 They took a little extra time to find the parts but the job was done in days. Our cars and their parts aren't as rare as most folks think. I've taken 108's, 11's and 114's to Midas, Aamco, Napa Auto and more. I've never had a problem finding parts (I just don't like some of the prices I've sometimes had to pay)

interesting outcome

Well the mechanic tells me the previous owner had put in synthectic transmission oil which was the culprit. Causing the transmission to slip. I will pick up the car today and verify. Does anyone out there know why synthectic does not work with this car?
