Thanks for all your input so far.
As far as the roof chop goes, I don't want it too extreme - with my sketches and the proven scientific method of hard squinting and looking over my thumb at my existing fintails, I think about 7 cm should do it...
When you look at the car, it should be something that does not immediately 'jump' into your face but rather you'd need to look at it for some time before you see it.
Talking about sketches... does anybody have a suggestion as to what kind of program people use to make these kind of renderings on the computer? I am really not very good at drawing.
The thing with matt black: There are ZERO matt black vehicles here in Namibia, and I just think it would rally stand out, as well as trying for the contrast with the glossy black instead of the chrome. But, I admit, that is not final yet. 50$84sd, do you have a pic of what satin black looks like?
The problem with the Merc V8, again, is that the 450 is very rare here. The 500's, from the 126, are quite readily available and a complete car in useable condition will set me back an amount of money I can afford... I am also thinking more in the line of relaxed cruiser than tar burner, unless, of course I get hold of an AMG wreck... The 500 should have enough 'go' for that?
Just out of interest, would a e.g. 350 Chev transplant be a LOT more work than an older Merc V8?
Should I try to use the axles / steering / etc. from the newer car and basically bolt those under the old body, or just the engine and gearbox? I think the old brakes / diff, ec. will have a hard time coping?
Another idea I had was fitting this with gullwing doors (4 of them)... Any comments?
