w123 remote door locking

I have a '81 w123 240D euro edition. Would like to install a solid remote locking system. Could someone point me to an easy-to-install and solid remote system? i only need the remote door locking, not the remote ignition, etc.
Anyone done this on their w123?

Post Tough one...

Hi there - the 123 still has a completely mechanical system. Meaning that there is a certain vacuum in the air hoses, which is used to move the door actuators. It is initiated by valves in the front doors and trunk lock.
I have the same problem on my 116. Since my system is not working at all, I will remove the air actuators and put motorized ones with remote in.
Hope this helps.

Whitney is the cheap go-to.

Check ebay also, maybe find a better deal. These inexpensive systems have worked well for me in the past, others may have different opinions, in worse climates.

Autoloc is a good brand to look for.

Attach the main electric actuator on the driver's door lock, this way if car sits and loses vacuum, or the vacuum system breaks, the drivers door will still open. If vacuum is working correctly, as the driver's door opens the vacuum system will then open all the other doors. You could attach the other electric actuator on the passenger door or the trunk, depending on what is a priority for you. or just do the one on the driver door and fix those vacuum leaks!!

Wire to a constant power source (fusebox is best) but make sure it is fused or circuit protected as this willl always be drawing on the battery and if anything goes wrong you need a safety.

easy to do , cheap tint shops do it all the time

good luck!
