Yes, pretty much all of 'em

W114 and W115 cars are interchangeable. There is no substantial reason to not consider them a single chassis group.

Excellent! Are there any nuances I should look out for.

Same body W114's are the 6 cyl cars, the W115 are the 4 cyl gas and all diesel models.
They had a facelift in 1973 and some parts do not interchange between the earlier and later models.

With best regards

Al

There is no more difference from W114 to W115 as there is from one W115 to another W115. There was a minor facelift in 1974 relating to the addition of enormous absorber-type bumpers as required by U.S. law.

There is actually little more then that. Grill, hood and fenders are different, as are the tail lamps and front doors and A pillars.

The US spec cars also got the larger 5mph bumpers.

That is correct there is a difference on the grille one is taller than the other, different hood. Fenders are different too. Especially on the lower areas one is more rounded. The other one is more flat.
-115's has no front quarter glass mirrors.
-Two kinds of dashboards difference on the speaker covers.
-Seats on the early models are different
-Trunk handle are smaller on the early ones.
-Two kinds of seatbelts

Hood, fender and grill changes are all due to the 1974 bumper mod I noted. These minor mods discussed here are relative to early/late and not 114/115, the query posed by the OP.

I hate to stick on details here, but the changes have nothing to do with bumper mods. The model was face lifted globally but only US cars got the bumper mods to support 5 mph bumpers.

This is important when it comes to interchangeability because if he decides to replace a rusty left fender, it needs to be from a car within the same year range as his.

Here's a non US spec W115 with regular chrome bumpers and all of the other changes.

With best regards

My 1971 220 gas is a European model.

I will need to replace the left fender, so I am trying to learn what options I have available. Sounds like a 1968-1971 W114 would meet my needs.

Thanks,
Bob
