W115 Auto Transmission

I have a 74 240D Bad transmission - Pretty sure its a 722.108 years 73-76

Can I put a newer 722 model (basically because it's easier to find)

You can probably put another 722.1 in. Why don't you rebuild what you have?

With best regards

Al

Transmissions are linked to the engine, if you put just another 722.1 transmission in your car, it might not work or shifting will be poor.

The W123-240D used the 722.117 transmission, but get a pre-1980 version. Later transmission used vacuum control, which is not available on the W115. It is possible that the control rod of the 722.108 transmission is slightly different from the 722.117 transmission.
