Question Hydrak servo diaphragm Q

Hello all and first post on Benzworld.

I don't currently own any M-B vehicle (though that may change and is a topic for another thread). What I do own is a 1970 Porsche 911T which has a Sportomatic transmission. There are a hardy few of us registered at sportomatic.org and active on the various 911 boards.

Long story short: Sportomatic vacuum servo diaphragms are NLA from Porsche and we're searching for substitutes. There's been some speculation that the Hydrak's servo diaphragm may be a good match, and that they may still be available from M-B (reference: Sportomatic, are you experienced? - Pelican Parts Technical BBS).

Can anyone advise and, better still, provide a part number for the Hydrak servo diaphragm?

Thanks,
Ed

This article may help. As noted, the original diaphragm is NLA (I do have a spare for my Hydrak)

Thanks for your reply. I'd somehow gotten the idea that the Hydrak diaphragms were still available.

I bought a replacement VW Autostick servo diaphragm (which are still being manufactured) and, although it is a near perfect match in contour to the Sportomatic servo diaphragm, it's only about 75% the diameter. The Hydrak diaphragms in that link also look exactly like the Sporto diaphragm.

I'll be dropping a line to the host to find out more about the Hydrak diaphragms.

You might also try Bob Gunthorp. I understand he may have made some reproduction ones at some time. His email address is badwrench7@cox.net
